Buttock enhancement or gluteal augmentation, is used to improve the contour, size and shape of the buttock. This is done through the use of buttock implants, fat grafting or auto-augmentation flaps.
Most patients who inquire about this procedure have lost weight, causing a change in the shape of their backside which could be saggy, flat, or disproportionate.
The best candidates for this procedure are non-smokers who are at or near their ideal weight and have maintained that weight for about 6 months.
Buttock implants are silicone-filled devices that are surgically placed deep within the tissues of the buttock to enhance the contour. Implants can sometimes be uncomfortable for the patient in a sitting position.
Autologous tissue augmentation can be achieved by using adipo-fascial flaps from the lower back that are normally resected in circumferential lower body lift.
The gluteal flap is based on the superior gluteal artery perforators. The incision pattern may vary and will be discussed in consultation. Scars are concealed in the bikini lines.
Buttock augmentation through the use of fat grafting involves the transfer of fat from one area of the body into the tissues of the buttocks, making it a natural way to shape and enhance your buttocks. The result is a more defined and round shape of the buttock enhancing the appearance of the bottom.
The scars are less than 1 cm. This procedure carries the highest risk of complications. These complications will be discussed with you in consultation.
The final result will be visible at 1 year.
Patient experiences vary; you can expect the buttocks to be sore, swollen, and bruised.
A standard compression garment will need to be worn for approximately 1-2 weeks after the procedure to decrease the swelling and encourage smooth results.
Depending on your specific circumstances, there are often no sutures to be removed as dissolvable sutures are placed under the skin.
First 1 to 2 Days
Most of these procedures require an admission and an overnight hospital care. Some temporary bruising, swelling, and numbness on treated area can be expected. You can use medication prescribed by your plastic surgeon to control discomfort, if needed.
1 to 2 Weeks
For at least 1 to 2 weeks, you will be required to wear a compression garment to decrease swelling and limit any strenuous activity.
Follow-up Appointment
You will have a follow-up appointment approximately 5 to 7 days after surgery.
Return to Work
Most patients are ready to return to their everyday activities within 1-2 weeks, and physical activities are limited for one month or more. You should limit any strenuous activity during the first two weeks. Thereafter, you can steadily increase your activity level within the limits of discomfort.
Results
Results are long lasting; although, significant weight gain will likely stretch the skin again.
Risks include infection, bleeding, bruising, contour asymmetry, swelling, blood cloth, fat embolism, slight depression or wrinkling or reaction to anaesthesia.
Brazilian Butt Lift is a frequently performed procedure but carries the highest risk of complication.
A comprehensive list of instructions for surgery preparation and post-operative care will be provided to each patient. These instructions should be followed carefully for the best possible outcome.
Certain over the counter products and prescription medicines can cause complications before and after surgery. Do not take any medication containing or related to aspirin two weeks prior to your procedure. This includes NSAID’S, anti-Inflammatory medications, blood thinning medication. Please see your doctor regarding if and when to cease medication. This is not an all-inclusive list.
Also avoid Vitamin E supplements and red wine. Stop all herbal medications before surgery. The most common herbs used are Echinacea, Ephedra, Garlic, Ginseng, Ginkgo, Kava, St. John’s Wort, and Valerian. They may adversely affect anaesthetic drugs, prolong bleeding and impair healing after surgery.
Smoking increases the risks of complications significantly and should be ceased 6 to 8 weeks prior to surgery.
Some patients may choose to combine it with others procedures for a more personalised result.
The cost of Buttock enhancement procedure obviously depends on the surgical option chosen and will be discussed in consultation. Prices start from 4,500 euros.
All cost includes pre and post-operative appointment and the compression garment.
An iPad with before & after pictures to illustrate the results will be available.
