The aim of a rhinoplasty in Brussels is to correct imperfections in the nasal pyramid. It is possible to correct the shape of the bridge of the nose, the nasal septum, but also the tip of the nose. This surgery is performed by reshaping the soft tissues in the nose and the bones and cartilage that make up the nasal septum. Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia by an experienced plastic surgeon.
The incisions are not visible. They are located in the nostrils and on the columella, which allows a global vision of the asymmetries and the situation. This is called an open rhinoplasty.
Ultrasound avoids breaking the bones to achieve the desired result. This method is considerably gentler and is a technique that allows the patient’s nose to be reshaped with precision. Following the procedure, there is less post-operative swelling and pain.

This type of rhinoplasty avoids the need for a general anaesthetic. However, it does not treat all the imperfections of the nose. Moreover, the results of this technique are temporary compared to those of a classic cosmetic surgery operation. The use of hyaluronic acid injections can rectify small irregularities on the nose, as well as reduce any bumps on the bridge of the nose. If you find that your nose is too wide and you wish to make it smaller, we will advise you on another type of operation.
This technique allows you to obtain a natural result, which harmonises the proportions of your face, without the risk of hypertrophy. Reshape your face and correct the asymmetry of your nose to make it more pleasing to you.
Rhinoplasty is performed in Brussels during a consultation with Dr Ballieux. The consultation lasts 30 minutes. It is advisable to avoid blood-thinning drugs such as aspirin or Daflon before an injection.
The recovery time depends on the type of surgery. Nose surgery is performed under general anaesthesia.
In general, recovery is as follows:
During the first week after the operation, there is a slight swelling. Taking oral analgesics, prescribed by Dr Ballieux, can help to reduce the discomfort that this may cause. A follow-up visit is scheduled 7-9 days after the operation. At this visit we remove the splint. Dr Ballieux no longer uses an intranasal wick.
Resumption of active life: following this operation, patients resume their daily activities within 1 week. We strongly advise against driving for the first 24 to 48 hours.
Physical activities: we advise avoiding any physical effort for 6 weeks after all cosmetic procedures, even minor ones.
All surgeries carry risks, these will be discussed with you in consultation and will vary according to the condition of your nose and your state of health. It is possible to experience bruising, bleeding, swelling or infection afterwards. The risks associated with the anaesthetic and the surgery itself will be explained to you by Dr Ballieux during a consultation.
Aspirin-based medications should be avoided 2 weeks before the operation. This molecule increases the risk of bleeding both during and after the operation. It is also recommended to stop taking certain natural medicines in order to avoid possible interference with the healing process. Dr Ballieux is available to answer all your questions about taking medication before and after the operation.
Smoking can lead to complications in the healing process and infections of the implanted material. We therefore advise you to stop smoking 6 to 8 weeks before the operation.
It is necessary to count approximately 6000 euros for a nose job. Various elements are included in this price such as the surgeon’s fees, the operating theatre, and hospitalization costs if necessary.
A digital photo album illustrating the before-and-after results will be made available to patients in consultation.
